The author of one of the China weblogs I put in my top ten a while ago has been detained by the PSB. He was last known to be filming a documentary on underground churches in Beijing.

Some people are expressing skepticism at the power of a weblog to free somebody like Hao Wu. But it's not about directly freeing him, it's about showing support and creating awareness, and hoping that the site leads to action by people who can make a real difference. So in a sense the focus/title of the weblog is misleading, but the intent is right.

What to do with a visitor in Shanghai:

2006 shapes up as a year of visitation. Both Linda and myself will have family and friends dropping by Shanghai in the first half of 2006, starting next Tuesday when Linda's sister Jen arrives. Hence, we're trying to nail down the ultimate Shanghai tour - what we can do, where we can take people, and more importantly, what to skip over and avoid.

As we've already had a few visitors through Shanghai, we have already identified a couple of essential activities that we've seen our guest enjoy.

This one is a keeper! I'm looking forward to the sequel.

And as a bonus, pictures of beautiful China.
